Today we hit Route 62 and it was 10 miles straight up, then the rest was flat. When Dave drove me to the start he said this one will kick your butt! I ran every step today, I think I am getting into a little groove. 14 miles down Route 62 we hit Joshua Tree, a beautiful town and I was glad to see it. This is me after my 26 miles.

Today I met a couple named Bob and Lesley. They have been biking all over New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States for seventeen months! Their bikes weigh 45 lbs with gear and they travel 50 miles a day. I didn't tell them that I wanted to do that someday too, but we were all impressed with each other and that made the last five miles go faster. They rode ahead and gave Dave $20.00 for the charity which was very was nice. Thanks Bob and Lesley. We talked about how you only have so much time on earth and that you should make the most of it. How true! Everyday I find another reason to disregard the pain and do it.

No fancy update today. Bruce is almost to Arizona. He is doing well and resting up for a tough day tomorrow.

February 10th

We reached Parker Arizona today. An Officer came out and checked on me  which was very nice.

The house must have been abandoned a long time ago. What was weird were all those pairs of shoes hanging in the tree. I inquired about this strange site and found out they represent "lost soles". It just looked so unusual in the middle of nowhere.

February 11th

Bruce reports that it rained all day and that there were no pictures to take. Plus, his cell phone died despite being in his "waterproof" jacket.

Bruce's quote of the day:

"I ran all the way across the great state of California. I figure I went his far I might as well keep going!"

February 12th

The scenery is changing and we are steadily moving on. I am 25 miles past Parker, Arizona today as we crossed the mighty Colorado River. It didn't rain today, thank God. My cell phone is trashed until Phoenix.
