February 1, 2005 - Oceanside, California
Bruce at the starting line, Ready to go! He's smiling again and nothing will stop him now.
Hopefully, there won't be any ice in California. Bruce makes it all legal, touching the water and then embarking upon his incredible 3100 mile run. Go Bruce!

February 2nd Weather is good in Temecula California and Bruce is not missing Illinois at all. OK, 50 miles down 3,050 to go. Bruce pauses to capture the beautiful California scenery. No ice so far!
The country was beautiful but the wind didn't let me enjoy it. The sand was blowing so hard that it scratched the lenses of my sun glasses. My face is sand blasted. This was the toughest run ever, yesterday the Santa Anna winds were blowing 45MPH. I hope its not windy tomorrow. February 4th Well after three days of climbing up...up... up.... I finally reached the top and today was 26 miles downhill with some of the most beautiful running I have ever seen. No wind at all and I hit Palm Desert. It was 80 degrees and I am burnt. I made record time running down hill. I wish I could run that fast normally.
February 5th I ran past a beautiful mountain today. Much better than actually going over it. We hit Route 62 and are in Yucca Valley, California. My toes finally straightened out today. After going up those mountains the last few days with my shoes in front all curled up was tough, ended up with elf toes. A good day over all... glad to hit route 62. ![]()
