Day 13 - I Want This
Wednesday, 27 January 2010 20:21
Well I never quit any race or run, I believe God wants what I want and I want this.

People are also depending on me to get them some donations. Tough day after 15 miles I ran too fast yesterday so it is expected.

No shoulder but low traffic. Nice uneventful day. 26 more miles towards California.  13 days running  329 6/10 miles. About 15 miles short of busy Montgomery, Alabama. Ran with flash light facing backwards so cars can see from behind, it worked! I also have two flashing light clips. Only 2670 4/10 miles to go!!

Day 12 - Close Call
Tuesday, 26 January 2010 21:07
One inch from being hit from behind by a semi truck passing another in the dark around a curve at mile 2. I never gave quitting the run a thought until then. Closest I came to dying ever, his mirror was over my head and the 30 MPH head wind hitting me had my head down leaning forward, I felt it sucking me in. I thought about all the people I would miss and the people I would never help if I died. So is it selfish to continue when you weigh them what does it mean. You know I came close to be talking like this. I always felt it was my destiny to do this. I bought a flash light and will carry it backwards in my hand, the road has no shoulder all the way through Montgomery. I came back to the motel with a couple of tears, I will think about this tomorrow, the Lord will give me the answer.

No pictures, saw huge buck, lunch stolen 2 days in a row.

Day 11 - Alabama

Day 10 - Security
Sunday, 24 January 2010 22:59
Well finished in Morris,GA. 26 miles more tough miles towards Morro Bay, CA. Yesterday Officer Pulvis of Georgia Police came out and was asking about my run. Also Dave and I got a surprise meeting Officer Flowers, in the dark this morning, who wanted my autograph and hoped I get famous. He met George Strait on a bus he pulled over. First police officer autograph.

Pit bull eating a deer and didn't want to move was the real scare of the day. Dave had to drive along side so I could get by, 1/2 mile past him was 26 mile mark which meant soft bed ice feet.
Here is Dave and our security system, at finish line.

Hills so long I had to turn around ay the top just to see what I conquered..

Day 9 - Palm Trees
Saturday, 23 January 2010 17:12
Ran through downtown Albany, GA during lunch rush today. Finished just on the outskirts of town. Ran 26 miles today towards California. Feel good so far. I think the leg training I did before leaving for run is paying off now.

Good hotel rates here but a big busy town if you like that kind of thing. Palm trees here and a nice looking college with Palms all over.

Here is some inspiration, hopefully to someone; If I was to compare myself to the guys that I know in this sport I would be a meatball. They run 47 miles a day across the United states, 71 days!
But I know I cant do that. But I am happy doing my little marathon a day across U.S.A. My point is be happy with what you have (right now) know one knows you, like you know yourself, Your still alive, its time to do it. And when you get done working out, afterwards are you not always glad you did.

Day 9, Part 2
Ran through Dawson, and just past Greeves, Georgia today. 225.6 miles so far 9 days running. We move from our $30.00 a night Motel 6. I will miss you $$  We will look for similar accommodations in Georgetown,GA tomorrow. Route 82 turned into a two lane quiet back road, Dave and I said good place for dogs at the same time. Hope not. Rolling hills and cool weather and a nice shoulder, what more could a Transcon runner want. Cant wait to see what Route 82 has tomorrow, looks interesting so far.

My inspiration today was this. I saw a very heavy lady about 50 running in the opposite direction in Dawson today, and you could tell she was tired and giving it her all. And I was inspired! She was out there doing it and that always makes me think, Way to Go, you're out there when most would give up or make excuses. I was getting tired until I saw her. Thank You Miss, keep going.
