Still trying to figure out this arch problem. Ran 24 3/10 miles in hard rain and guess who forgot his rain gear today. Cold today, arch hurt but have new shoes and new hope. Nice shoulder on Rt 82 and got better as I went. I'll enjoy tomorrow as it is supposed to be a nice day.
Day 38.... 911 miles. No pictures on rain day it was just that heavy, no cell phone answered in rain.

Well,, never been so nervous about running 26 miles as I was last night and this morning. I felt pain today but not like before. I am not sure about tomorrow but I have today's 26 miles in the books. I was told by Alan Firth, who I met as he put on 2 races across United States in 2002 and 2004 and finished his own run across the United States in 2000, went 3000 miles in 119 days and has crewed for many others and has helped me with advice and showed up on both my runs, has told me the rules are that; when you take a day off it still counts as a running day. So that's that! I agree that it should be that way, but there goes my average miles a day.

I am 76 miles behind where I could be. Also www.seejohnrun.com is counting the days since I started, they hav me at 37 days.

Hit Texas border at 6 miles and ran through sleepy Texarcana this morning ran through Hatch, Leary and stopped in Hooks,Texas. Day 37....886 7/10 miles about 23 miles a day average so far.

Well 2 days off laying in bed after Cortisone injections, staring at my feet. Will have to take six pills tomorrow 5 the next then three the next then two the one then a low dose steroid pill for thirty days if I want to keep on this mission. Piece of cake, what ever it takes.
Talking with a reporter from the Courier News, was wondering if all the things, these injuries and taking days off, being 76 miles behind where I wanted to be to go for my record. Since I have to count these days as running days, and not showing up last two days, asked what emotion do I feel the most.. Anger? Disappointed? Just bad luck, Nervous? Anxious? Feel sorry for oneself? Confused? Why Me? I would have to say.. Scarred.. to deep to go into, but I will put on my battle gear tomorrow and will try not to lose anymore.

Well went to Dr. Petty in Texarcana, Texas. He gave me a cortisone injection in both ankles, as the two separate injury's just got worse. But good news is there is no damage and having to take off yet another day tomorrow I will be back on the road. I have to take antibiotics for 5 days then a light steriod pill for 30 days, I dont want this but I must complete this mission.

Thank You, Dr: Moore!
Dr: Timothy Moore who has never met me had his great Rotary Club make a huge donation then paid a very expensive bill at the doctors office here in Texarcana out of his own pocket!!! I will meet him as soon as I get home.
I learned a running lesson I didn't want to learn, but live, learn, and hold on to what you love with all you got. |

Day 34 - Pain in the Arch |
|
Wednesday, 17 February 2010 15:18 |
Well 16 miles today as the bruise on my right foot arch was just too much pain and getting worse. I felt the defect in the shoe arch when I put them on and ran 175 miles in them and shouldn't have. It will be close on shoes now as they haven't made them in 6 years, I try E-Bay everyday.

SOOOOOOO I hate to but for the sake of the mission (To Finish) I will........TAKE A DAY OFF TOMMOROW!!!! 2/18. Start again, I hope, 2/19.
I am very Unhappy, Sad, Angry, Shocked, Bewildered and feeling sorry for my self. Did I leave anything out? I have to fix this before I hit the Rockies.

I finished today 14 miles short of Texas Border.
