Well, it's time to get ready for a multi-month adventure! This is the beginning of my run across the United States. We're packed, ready to go, and on our way tomorrow. I've bought a new trailer to use for our accommodations and the truck has been prepared. I'm in good spirits although a bit anxious to get out to California to begin running.  So on January 27th 2005, a smiling Bruce and friend begin the journey from the tundra of Illinois to sunny California, ready to brave the long road ahead!  But like all things planned, you must accept some setbacks. Whoops, this is the reason Bruce would rather run across America than drive. An unexpected patch of ice is encountered in Texas on January 29th leaving everyone very unhappy campers. Bruce's new trailer is totaled along with many supplies. The run will now cost significantly more than expected due to the need to find accommodations along the way. Undeterred by this setback, Bruce forges ahead with his mission. Fortunately, his pickup truck suffered only minor damage. At this point, any donations to our cause would be warmly embraced. |
