Bruce is currently
looking to have a book published about his experience of running
across the United States. He has laid out the specifics of a possibly
book:
About: On foot Bruce will run 2901 miles from California to
Virginia. He will tell a story of the places he sees, the people he
meets, and the wildlife he encounters, and of past runs across the
States preparing for this run.
Market: Adventurist, extreme sports, both are very big now.
Bruce is a solid 200 pounds might be heaviest runner to make a run
across the entire United States. You don't have to look like a runner
to be a runner. He has run 20 marathons, ran across the Rockies,
Across the state of Wisconsin ran with the 100th anniversary Olympic
Torch and is partly paralyzed in his back and right leg. And he isn't
done yet!
Promotion: Bruce has and will again be on local TV and
newspaper. He finally hired a Marketing/Web page designer and we are
in the process of web site now. In a few days this site will attract
sponsors, hopefully big ones, and will also let people and sponsors
follow his week by week journey. He can travel to promote this book if
needed.
Competition: He has been training for this run for 25 years. He
is partially paralysed in right leg, broke his back and was in body
cast for three months. He has newspaper and hometown TV coverage. He
was selected to carry the Olympic Torch in the 100th anniversary
Olympic games. He has run across entire states and islands getting
ready for what will be his legacy. There are not a lot of books on
this and none of anyone weighing 200 pounds.
Qualifications: He has been compiling notes for twenty-three
years. The floormat will be in a diary-type text, and newspaper
coverage of me speaking to children about my run and running the
Olympic Torch. He believes he could write a book about anything, let
alone a book about this 2901 mile adventure run.
Format: Two hundred fifty to three hundred pages, with a few
pictures. The journey will take 105 days at 26 to 30 miles a day. As
he will be recording his notes, he will transfer them to his web site
and keep sponsors updated along the trip. Also updates on the website
will be revised regularly, much time will be consumed organizing his
affairs. |
